2020 Ford Expedition
The 2020 Ford Expedition continues its dominance in the full-size SUV category. With lots of power, plenty of space, and advanced technology, the Expedition is designed and built to perform. Here's a look at some of the best features on the 2020 Expedition.
Trim Levels
The Expedition comes in eight trim levels, so there's a model for every lifestyle. It starts with the well-equipped XLT. For additional option packages, you can move to the XLT Max. The Limited and Limited Max are both designed to perform while delivering a level of comfort not usually found in an SUV. The King Ranch and King Ranch Max are two specially designed models for maximum capability, on and off the road. The Platinum and Platinum Max models are fully-loaded with all the bells and whistles rivaling any luxury vehicle in its class.
Engine
The 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine uses direct injection and a twin air-to-air inter-cooled turbocharger. The result is an astounding 400 horsepower, and 480 pound-feet of torque. This powerful set-up gets a best-in-class 9,300-pound towing capacity. Even with all that power the Expedition still gets a class-leading MPG rating of 17 City/24 Highway/20 Combined.
Performance
The 10-speed SelectShift transmission offers the convenience of automatic shifting or the thrill of a manual transmission. The Expedition also has a Continuously Controlled Damping system to smooth out the road. Hill Start Assist and Hill Descent Control systems keep you under control, especially when hauling. Hill Start Assist keeps the ABS locked for up to two seconds while you move your foot from the brake to the accelerator. Hill Descent Control automatically engages the brakes to help keep the vehicle under control on steep declines.
The Expedition's Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package includes the class-exclusive Pro Trailer Backup Assist system. It also features AdvanceTrac with RSC (Roll Stability Control) to help keep the trailer from swaying. A Trailer Backup Assist system helps steer the trailer while in reverse with the turn of a knob. Ford's BLIS system can also include trailer coverage, monitoring those hard to see blind spots around your load.
Interior
The Expedition seats up to eight people and does it in style. Heated and ventilated captain's chairs, wood grain accents, and an available leather-wrapped, heated steering wheel are just a few of the stylish components. The 10-way power-adjustable seats have lumbar support and power reclining for individual comfort. The second-row bucket seats power fold, have tip and slide capability, and are also heated. Third-row seats also have power folding, so you can easily increase your cargo room.
Safety Features
Every Expedition comes standard with Ford Co-Pilot 360, a suite of driver-assist features designed to keep you safer on the roads. Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go uses advanced technology to monitor traffic ahead. The system will slow the vehicle all the way to a complete stop if necessary. When the road ahead clears it will automatically return you to your preset speed. A Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking will apply additional brake pressure in an emergency situation. Ford's BLIS technology monitors your blind spots. A Lane-Keeping system alerts you when you drift from marked lanes.
