2021 Ford F-150 Clinton TownshipThe 2020 Ford Super Duty has attracted a lot of attention due to its impressive towing and upgraded technologies. But which Super Duty model is right for you? Check out this guide to compare the F-250, F-350, and F-450.

F-250

One of the biggest differences between the F-models in the Super Duty lineup is their power capabilities, including elements such as towing and payload. But that doesn’t mean the F-250 is lacking in power. It has actually won many honors, including Truck Trend’s Pickup Truck of the Year Award for 2020. The F-250 can tow a maximum of 15,000 pounds, with a payload of 4,323 pounds. It comes with an available trailer brake controller feature, whereas the F-350 and F-450 models don’t.

The F-250 is paired with your choice of two transmissions, either a TorqShift six-speed or a TorqShift 10-speed. It’s equipped standard with 17-inch wheels, with an optional 18-inch upgrade.

F-350

The F-350 offers significantly more towing power capabilities than the F-250, with a maximum towing capacity of 20,000 pounds and a payload of 7,033 pounds. Additional performance-improving features are available in the F-350 and F-450 models, including the Live Drive Power Takeoff feature. Starting with the F-350, you also get additional features options, such as a high airflow grille. It also offers slightly better performance, providing a standard 10-speed transmission and 17-inch tires, with the optional upgrade to 18-inch tires.

F-450

The 2020 F-450 offers the highest towing capability with a maximum of 24,200 pounds and a payload of 6,288 pounds. The exterior design also differs slightly from this upgraded model, including features such as halogen fog lamps. The F-450 also comes with splash guards, protecting your 19.5-inch polished aluminum tires and rims. Accommodating the heavier tow loads is a larger fuel tank, a 45-gallon versus a 29-gallon in the F-250 and a 34-gallon in the F-350. Paired with the 10-speed transmission and a dual-rear-wheel setup, the F-450 offers unique performance.

Similarities Among Models

The three F-series Super Duty models share many similarities. The F-250 and F-350 come with the choice of three engines, a standard 7.3-liter with 430 horsepower, a 6.2-liter Flex Fuel V-8 with 385 horsepower, or a 6.7-liter Power Stroke turbo diesel V-8 engine with 475 horsepower. The F-450 is equipped automatically with the 6.7-liter V-8 turbo diesel engine. You will also find a similar interior design across all models. The interior is leather-trimmed, spacious, comfortable, and driver-focused in each truck. Available upgrades include elements such as wood-trimmed features and heated and ventilated front seats.

Safety features are also consistent across all models, with available features such as pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking, 180/360-degree camera, blind spot information with trailer coverage, and lane-keeping alert. The highly anticipated ultimate trailer tow camera system is available for all models.
