Schedule a Ford Test Drive

Here is how it goes from the moment you send the form.

• You send the request: the form asks for the year, make, and model, your preferred date and time, and how to reach you.
• We confirm: someone from our team calls to lock in your time and make sure the vehicle is ready. That call is where you bring up what the form does not ask about: a second model you are weighing, a trade-in, a leasing question.
• You drive: come in at the confirmed time and drive. Where you drive decides how much you learn, so think about your route before you get here.

Bring a valid driver's license. That is the one item you must have, so it is worth checking the expiration date before you leave the house. Beyond that, bring your own gear: the car seat you actually use, and whatever fills the back on a normal week. If anything else is needed for your appointment, the person who calls to confirm will tell you.

A loop around the block tells you almost nothing. The drives that settle a decision are the ones that copy your ordinary week. Pick the checks below that fit your week, then mention them when we call to confirm.

• Set up before you move: seat, mirrors, and wheel, while you are still parked. If there is no position where you can reach everything and still see over the hood, nothing later fixes it.
• A real highway merge: get onto I-94 or I-696 and bring the vehicle up to the speed that traffic is already doing. One honest merge tells you more about the engine than a spec sheet can. It is also where you learn whether the windshield pillar blocks your view of a car in the next lane.
• Broken pavement, radio off: our freeze and thaw cycle leaves seams and uneven patches on side streets long after the snow goes. Find some with the stereo off. Rattles, tire roar on concrete, and a buzz somewhere in the dash are easy to miss in a showroom and impossible to unhear on a commute. Rough pavement is also where you feel whether the suspension settles after a bump or keeps bouncing.
• Tight parking: back into a tight spot in a full lot, the kind you end up circling for on Hall Road on a Saturday. How tightly the vehicle turns, how much the mirrors show, and how clear the cameras are all become obvious in 30 seconds of parking, not on an open road.
• The car seat and the load you carry: fit the child seat where you will actually use it, then sit directly in front of it. Load the stroller, the hockey bag, or the toolbox, and fold the rear seats down the way you would on a real errand. Your own knee against the seat in front, and your own load in the back, tell you more than the figures on a spec sheet.
• Winter, before winter: run the defrost and the heat hard, and find the controls you will want in January without taking your eyes off the road.
• Your own commute: if Gratiot Avenue, Hall Road, or Van Dyke is your daily drive, make it part of the test drive. A vehicle that feels good on an open road can feel very different in stop-and-go traffic with a left turn to make.

The test drive happens here. Most of what comes after it does not have to. Three of our programs are built for the weeks when a trip out here is not going to happen.

Dorian Direct is the online version of the whole purchase. You pick the vehicle, set up the payment terms, and apply for credit from wherever you are, then take delivery at home or at the office instead of spending an evening at a desk here.

Ford Mobile Service brings routine maintenance to the vehicle instead of the vehicle to the shop. A technician comes to your driveway or your work parking lot for filters, fluids, wiper blades, and bulbs, and for software updates, recall work, and parts that can be fitted on the spot. Every visit includes a free inspection of the vehicle's main systems. Appointments run Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.

• Certified used: a certified Ford is a recent used vehicle that has passed a Ford inspection and comes with warranty coverage backed by Ford, which is what separates it from an ordinary used car. • Service: oil changes, tires, brakes, software updates, and recall work are all booked from one place, so schedule Ford service and pick a time the same way you booked your drive.
• Collision: if something happens on I-94, the repair can be handled by Ford-certified technicians. Our on-site Collision Center is equipped to repair aluminum body panels as well as steel. The team writes the estimate, works with your insurer, repairs the vehicle with factory parts, and inspects it before you get it back.
