When you're shopping for the 2022 Ford Maverick, you can choose among three trims: XL, XLT, and Lariat. All trims come with the same cab and bed length. Despite the Maverick having one of the smallest beds at 4 feet and 6 inches, the truck has several hidden features, including integrated panels that can fit 2x4 boards and several standard power outlets. The truck sits on the same platform found on other Ford SUVs, including the Escape and Bronco Sport. Its unibody construction enhances its everyday driving experience compared to other body-on-frame trucks.

Unlike other pickup trucks, the 2022 Maverick comes standard with a hybrid engine system. This 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine also includes an electric motor and produces 191 horsepower. It's connected to a continuously variable automatic transmission and comes with front-wheel drive. Its optional 2.0-liter four-cylinder EcoBoost engine makes the Maverick punchier and quieter. This engine option produces 250 horsepower and comes mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. It's also available with either front- or all-wheel drive.

According to Ford, the Maverick returns exceptional gas mileage compared to other vehicles in its class and even surpasses numbers achieved by many compact cars. Expect to get 40 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway with the hybrid engine. Those vehicles with the EcoBoost engine and front-wheel drive get 23 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway, while all-wheel-drive models return 22 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway.

This four-door pickup truck has five comfortable and spacious seats. Both rows of seats boast ample headroom and legroom, even for taller riders. Outward visibility is also excellent. Cloth upholstery comes standard, but heated and power-adjustable front seats are available, as is a heated steering wheel. Piggybacking on the Maverick's interior styling, its infotainment has a no-fuss appearance. Its 8-inch touch-screen display has straightforward menus and is easy to operate. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity makes it simple to use your smartphone interface on the touch screen. Thanks to well-placed audio and climate controls, you can easily adjust the settings while driving. Other standard features include two USB ports, Bluetooth, and a Wi-Fi hot spot. Available technology upgrades include HD and satellite radio, wireless device charging, and extra USB ports.
