Comparing the 250, 350, and 450 Ford Super Duty

2021 Ford F-150 Clinton Township
The 2020 Ford Super Duty has attracted a lot of attention due to its impressive towing and upgraded technologies. But which Super Duty model is right for you? Check out this guide to compare the F-250, F-350, and F-450.

F-250

One of the biggest differences between the F-models in the Super Duty lineup is their power capabilities, including elements such as towing and payload. But that doesn't mean the F-250 is lacking in power. It has actually won many honors, including Truck Trend's Pickup Truck of the Year Award for 2020. The F-250 can tow a maximum of 15,000 pounds, with a payload of 4,323 pounds. It comes with an available trailer brake controller feature, whereas the F-350 and F-450 models don't. The F-250 is paired with your choice of two transmissions, either a TorqShift six-speed or a TorqShift 10-speed. It's equipped standard with 17-inch wheels, with an optional 18-inch upgrade.

F-350

The F-350 offers significantly more towing power capabilities than the F-250, with a maximum towing capacity of 20,000 pounds and a payload of 7,033 pounds. Additional performance-improving features are available in the F-350 and F-450 models, including the Live Drive Power Takeoff feature. Starting with the F-350, you also get additional features options, such as a high airflow grille. It also offers slightly better performance, providing a standard 10-speed transmission and 17-inch tires, with the optional upgrade to 18-inch tires.

F-450

The 2020 F-450 offers the highest towing capability with a maximum of 24,200 pounds and a payload of 6,288 pounds. The exterior design also differs slightly from this upgraded model, including features such as halogen fog lamps. The F-450 also comes with splash guards, protecting your 19.5-inch polished aluminum tires and rims. Accommodating the heavier tow loads is a larger fuel tank, a 45-gallon versus a 29-gallon in the F-250 and a 34-gallon in the F-350. Paired with the 10-speed transmission and a dual-rear-wheel setup, the F-450 offers unique performance.

Similarities Among Models

The three F-series Super Duty models share many similarities. The F-250 and F-350 come with the choice of three engines, a standard 7.3-liter with 430 horsepower, a 6.2-liter Flex Fuel V-8 with 385 horsepower, or a 6.7-liter Power Stroke turbo diesel V-8 engine with 475 horsepower. The F-450 is equipped automatically with the 6.7-liter V-8 turbo diesel engine. You will also find a similar interior design across all models. The interior is leather-trimmed, spacious, comfortable, and driver-focused in each truck. Available upgrades include elements such as wood-trimmed features and heated and ventilated front seats. Safety features are also consistent across all models, with available features such as pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking, 180/360-degree camera, blind spot information with trailer coverage, and lane-keeping alert. The highly anticipated ultimate trailer tow camera system is available for all models. Whether you need traditional towing capabilities or have heavier-than-average towing loads, you will definitely want to check out the Ford Super Duty lineup. 2022 F-150

Buyers Guide for the 2022 Ford F-150

Over the past fifty years, Ford trucks have been the best-selling work vehicles in North America. Seeing the new 2022 Ford F-150, it's easy to see why. Known for its superior performance, the F-150 is back and better than ever with all the features you'll need to get the job done and a lot of exciting new technology. more Enjoy Awesome Tech In addition to the 8-inch infotainment screen, the F-150 introduces a 12-inch HD screen that's well worth the money invested in the upgrade. The system not only allows drivers to check diagnostics in real-time, but it is also equipped with a new SYNC 4 infotainment system that combines navigation, music, video, and much more so that both passengers and drivers have the best entertainment experience. This new adaptive cruise control feature in the 2022 Ford F-150 will be a life (and sanity) saver for those who commute long distances. Using this technology, the Ford has the ability to detect the speed of vehicles ahead and automatically keep pace with them, so that if they slow down, the F-150 will as well. When they speed up, it will as too, all while staying within the speed limit. Get the Best in Safety Features Ford's automatic emergency braking system is one of the most advanced safety features available. It was designed with one goal in mind: to save lives. The system uses the most advanced technology in order to scan the road and can engage the brakes if there is an emergency. The system also detects pedestrians walking in front of you. When it does, it will brake automatically to avoid a collision, giving you peace of mind that you'll never inadvertently be the cause of a life-threatening accident. Lane departure warning is another world-class safety system included in the F-150, which notifies drivers who have drifted out of their lanes. Unintentional drifting is one of the leading causes of interstate accidents in America, so this system truly will be lifesaving. In addition, lane keep assist allows the system to gently steer the vehicle at just the right angle to keep it centered in its lane. Enjoy Your Drive The SYNC 4 system might not feature your favorite playlist, but do not worry. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard features on the new F-150, so you'll be able to sync up your smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth and listen to your favorite tunes on the go. No more upgrading just to get your vehicle to work with your chosen smartphone. Just reviewing the above details, it's obvious why Ford continues to stay at the top as America's leading truck maker. Not only does this year's F-150 have everything you expect in a work truck: it even has luxury details you expect to find in a sedan. More great features come standard than ever before. The Ford Escape's 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine is coupled with an electric motor that produces a combined 200 horsepower, and the standard front-wheel drive model will provide an estimated fuel economy of 44 mpg in the city and 37 mpg on the highway. A smooth and enjoyable ride, the Escape Hybrid also boasts high safety ratings from both the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. 2. Ford F-150 Hybrid The Ford F-150 has been the nation's best-selling truck for decades, but fans of the popular pickup don't have to choose between function and fuel efficiency. The Powerboost Hybrid's high-output powertrain comes thanks to its 3.5-liter, V-6 engine paired with a 47-hp, 1.5-kWh lithium-ion battery and a 10-speed automatic transmission. The hybrid technology gives the truck impressive fuel economy, at 24 mpg city/highway, surpassing all other F-150 models. What's more is the hybrid F-150 also offers the Pro Power Onboard feature as standard, essentially allowing the vehicle to work as its own generator. Need to charge power tools on a worksite? Plug them right into the outlets built into the rear bed and inside the cabin. 3. Ford Explorer Hybrid The Ford Explorer Hybrid is a mid-size hybrid SUV that can fit up to six or seven passengers, depending on seat configuration. The vehicle's V6 engine and battery provide 318 horsepower, and a 10-speed automatic transmission is standard. The hybrid Explorer also offers a combined fuel economy of 28 mpg, helping you save money at the pump. 4.  Ford Mustang Mach-E The Ford Mustang Mach-E has the special distinction of being Ford's first all-electric crossover vehicle, which earns it a mention. The zero-emission vehicle also happens to be a pleasure to drive, with a quiet and smooth style. The Mach-E comes with a plug-in mobile charger that can be used for home charging overnight, although that's not the only option: the available hard-wired quick-charging stations can charge the vehicle up to 10 times faster.
