2027 Ford Expedition configurations and pricing

Active, Platinum, and King Ranch each come in a standard-length body and a longer MAX body. Tremor is standard length only. The MAX body adds $3,000 to the starting MSRP at launch for each series that offers it. The table lists starting MSRP at launch, excluding the required destination charge.

Configuration Body Length Best For MSRP at Launch (2027)
Active Standard 8 standard seats at the lowest price at launch $63,600
MAX Active MAX 8 standard seats with more cargo room $66,600
Platinum Standard Cabin comfort, with the High-Output engine available $70,550

King Ranch Standard Top-of-the-range interior and audio, plus a BlueCruise plan $82,695

Among the standard-length models, the largest price step is from Platinum to Tremor: $11,850 at launch. King Ranch starts just $295 above Tremor at launch.

How the 4 series compare: Equipment and seating vary by series.

Series Bodies Offered Seats What the Series Brings
Active Standard or MAX 8 standard, 7 optional The displays and connectivity found in every Expedition, with 6-speaker audio
Platinum Standard or MAX 7 standard, 8 optional Bang & Olufsen 10-speaker audio, an optional High-Output engine, and the Platinum-exclusive 30th Anniversary Appearance Package
Tremor Standard length only 7 standard, 8 optional Bang & Olufsen 10-speaker audio, standard High-Output engine, 4x4 only, off-road hardware, standard Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package, heated and ventilated first-row seats, and heated second-row seats

Engines and Fuel Economy

2027 Ford Expedition engines and fuel economy

Every 2027 Expedition pairs a 3.5L EcoBoost twin-turbo V6 with a 10-speed automatic transmission. There are 2 versions of the V6, and availability depends on the series, not body length. A MAX Active, for example, uses the same engine as a standard-length Active.

Series Standard Engine High-Output V6 Availability
Active 3.5L EcoBoost V6, 400 hp / 480 lb-ft Not offered
Platinum 3.5L EcoBoost V6, 400 hp / 480 lb-ft Available with the Ultimate or the Stealth Performance package
Tremor High-Output 3.5L EcoBoost V6, 440 hp / 510 lb-ft Standard
King Ranch 3.5L EcoBoost V6, 400 hp / 480 lb-ft Not offered

The High-Output V6 adds 40 hp and 30 lb-ft over the standard engine. It is standard on Tremor and available on Platinum through the Ultimate or Stealth Performance package.

Drivetrain: Intelligent 4WD with the Terrain Management System and 6 drive modes is standard on every configuration. A 4x2 drivetrain is a no-cost option on every configuration except Tremor, which is 4x4 only.

Fuel economy: A 4x4 Expedition is EPA-rated at 15 mpg city, 22 highway, and 18 combined. A 4x2 is rated at 16 city, 23 highway, and 18 combined. The 4x2 gains 1 mpg in the city and on the highway, with the same combined rating.

Towing

2027 Ford Expedition towing a trailer

A properly equipped standard-length Active, Platinum, or King Ranch can tow up to 9,600 pounds with 4x4 and the Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package.

The Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package is available only with 4x4. It is standard on Tremor and optional on every other 4x4 configuration. An integrated trailer brake controller and a Class IV hitch receiver are standard across the lineup. The table shows maximum ratings for properly equipped 4x4 models with the tow package.

Configuration Maximum Towing (4x4, Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package, Properly Equipped)
Active 9,600 lb
MAX Active 9,000 lb
Platinum 9,600 lb
MAX Platinum 9,000 lb
Tremor 9,300 lb
King Ranch 9,600 lb
MAX King Ranch 9,000 lb

With the Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package, each MAX is rated to tow 600 pounds less than the standard-length version of the same series. Tremor is rated 300 pounds below the other standard-length series. Match the trailer or boat you plan to tow to the configuration's rating before choosing.

A 4x2 Expedition is rated to tow up to 6,000 pounds in standard length or 6,300 pounds as a MAX. For a standard-length Active, Platinum, or King Ranch, that is 3,600 pounds below the maximum for a properly equipped 4x4 with the tow package. Weigh the 4x2's 1 mpg advantage in city and highway ratings against that lower towing capacity.

Seating and Cargo

2027 Ford Expedition seating and cargo space

The series determines how many seats you get. The body length determines how much cargo room is left behind them.

Active is the only series with 8 standard seats, in either body length, and it can also be ordered with 7. Platinum and Tremor seat 7 as standard, with 8 available. King Ranch seats 7 only. Heated and ventilated first-row seats and heated second-row seats are standard on Tremor and King Ranch.

The MAX adds cargo space, length, and fuel capacity:

Measurement Standard Body MAX Body Difference
Maximum cargo, behind the first row 108.5 cu ft 123.1 cu ft 14.6 cu ft more
Cargo behind the second row 60.8 cu ft 75.4 cu ft 14.6 cu ft more
Cargo behind the third row 21.6 cu ft 36.1 cu ft 14.5 cu ft more
Wheelbase 122.5 in 131.5 in 9 in longer
Overall length 209.9 in 221.7 in 11.8 in longer
Fuel tank 23.6 gal 27.8 gal 4.2 gal more

The MAX adds nearly the same amount of cargo room behind every row. The difference is especially useful with the third row in use: 36.1 cubic feet behind it instead of 21.6, or about two-thirds more.

The MAX also has a 9-inch-longer wheelbase and adds 11.8 inches of overall length, so check your garage and usual parking spaces. Its fuel tank holds 4.2 more gallons. The MAX body adds $3,000 to the starting MSRP at launch compared with the same series in standard length.

Screens and Connectivity

2027 Ford Expedition 24-inch panoramic display and connectivity

Every Expedition has the same standard displays and Ford Connectivity Package. Audio, wireless charging, and the included BlueCruise plan vary by series.

Displays: A 24-inch panoramic display and a 13.2-inch center display are standard on all 7 configurations, along with Ford Digital Experience.

Ford Connectivity Package: Every configuration includes the first year of the package, with 5G, an unlimited Wi-Fi hotspot for up to 10 devices within 50 feet, Google Play apps, and Google Maps on the center display.

Audio: Active has a 6-speaker system. Platinum and Tremor have a 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen system, while King Ranch has the 22-speaker B&O Unleashed system as standard.

Wireless charging and BlueCruise: King Ranch includes standard wireless charging and a BlueCruise plan covering 1 year plus 90 days.

An Active gets the same panoramic display as a MAX King Ranch.

Which Expedition Fits Your Week

Choosing the right 2027 Ford Expedition configuration

Start with what you need the SUV to do most weeks.

If you carry 8 people: Active is the only series with 8 standard seats. Its starting MSRP at launch of $63,600 is also the lowest in the lineup. Platinum and Tremor can be ordered with 8 seats. King Ranch seats 7 only.

For the highest tow rating: Keep the standard Intelligent 4WD, add the Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package, and choose a standard-length Active, Platinum, or King Ranch. These configurations can tow up to 9,600 pounds when properly equipped.

If you need room behind a full third row: Choose a MAX Active, MAX Platinum, or MAX King Ranch for 36.1 cubic feet behind the third row instead of 21.6. The MAX adds $3,000 to the starting MSRP at launch and 11.8 inches to the overall length. Properly equipped with 4x4 and the Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package, it can tow up to 9,000 pounds, 600 less than its standard-length counterpart.

For off-road driving: Tremor is the off-road configuration, available only in standard length with 4x4. Its hardware includes:

  • A 3.73 electronic-locking rear differential
  • A higher-riding suspension
  • Modified Raptor front and transmission skid plates
  • Fuel-tank underbody protection
  • Trail Control
  • 18-inch wheels with 33-inch-class all-terrain tires

Tremor has 10.6 inches of ground clearance, compared with 8.7 inches on the other standard-length series. Its approach angle is 28.2 degrees rather than 21.1.

For the stronger engine: The 440-hp High-Output V6 is standard on Tremor and available on Platinum with the Ultimate or Stealth Performance package. Active and King Ranch do not offer it.

For the top-of-the-range cabin: Choose King Ranch for its 22-speaker B&O Unleashed audio, standard wireless charging, and BlueCruise plan covering 1 year plus 90 days. It seats 7 only and comes in both body lengths.
