Driver-Controlled Engine Exhaust Brake with Auto Setting
The engine exhaust brake is incorporated within the turbocharger on the available 6.7L Power Stroke V8 Turbo Diesel engine. It adjusts the vanes on the exhaust side of the turbocharger to generate engine exhaust back pressure or engine braking, providing greater vehicle speed and towing control, reducing brake fade and lining wear.
System Details:
- Three Settings: On, Auto, and Off.
- On Setting: Full engine braking is applied when the accelerator pedal is released, reducing vehicle speed.
- Auto Setting: Modulates engine braking to maintain the intended vehicle speed based on accelerator and brake pedal use, eliminating "overbraking" and providing the correct amount of engine braking required.
- Off Setting: The default mode each time the vehicle is started, accessible by pressing the engine brake button when in the Auto or On setting.
